Air Transat is staying on the ground in the YYZ for the rest of the winter.
The airliner, one of Canada’s largest, announced early Wednesday it will suspend all flights out of Toronto, as well as some flights out of Montreal, until April 30.
The route cuts are to begin Thursday and reportedly including flights from Toronto to Cancun, Mexico; Holguin and Varadero, Cuba; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and Porto and Libson, Portugal.
According to a memo obtained by The Canadian Press, passengers who paid for their flight or vacation package with cash or credit card will be refunded in full, while passengers currently at those destinations will be rebooked on flights returning to Canada.
International travel has been a government focal point in recent weeks, including a new requirement this month that anyone seeking to enter Canada provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test, taken within 72 hours of departure.
