U.S. shuts out Canada to win gold at the world junior championship

Silver, not gold.

A star-studded Team Canada lost to the United States 2-0 on Tuesday night, their pained faces after the game bearing the weight of losing to their arch rival at the world junior hockey championship in Edmonton.

Canada ultimately outshot, out-chanced and out-possessed the Americans — thanks to a dominant third period when the Americans hung on — but none of that mattered in the end.

The Canadians hung their heads, the moments immediately after hard to take.
