Ontario vet staff member makes injured cat 'dance' for TikTok video

Durham Facebook users are outraged by a video that has been brought to light of a staff member at a Whitby pet hospital making an injured cat 'dance.'

The two staff members involved in the video - the one who manipulated the cat to ‘dance’ and the other, who filmed it - are “no longer with” King Hopkins Pet Hospital.

A video set to music and shot at the Whitby clinic depicts a staff member turning a cat with a cast on two limbs, backward and forward, and in a dancing motion. The cat was also hooked up to an IV. The video, originally uploaded to TikTok, has since been posted or shared to several different Facebook groups. One post had more than 6,000 views.

According to King Hopkins reception manager Tyler Dooks, staff were shocked when the video was brought to their attention by a client who was “understandably” outraged by what they saw.

Dooks said he has since learned the video was uploaded to social media a couple of weeks ago and removed after about 15 minutes. It resurfaced on Facebook this week.

He said the two employees were “dismissed” and the clinic has reported the incident to animal services. The cat in the video is safe and has been back with its owners for some time.
